Description

Lucid Projections is an adaptable work which generates temporary situations through projected light in public spaces after sunset. For the Festival of Independent Performing Arts in Copenhagen the work activated Enghaveparken in Vesterbro with 4 different configurations on 4 nights.

The work consists of geometrical formations of tripods carrying rechargeable led lamps. Through the precise projection of light distinct boundaries are created between light and dark, creating a situation of lucidity which invites to reflection upon this binary understanding. Lights fundamental qualities of providing orientation as well as disorientation depending on the position of the perceiver are accentuated through the work. It encourages exploration of spaces and activation of ever-changing shadows and gradients generated through movement of visitors and other surroundings. Lucid Projections is a light laboratory investigating the situation generating qualities of light and its capacities for activating public environments.
